In this travel Ubud vlog, Marc will share his culinary experience at Pankgon Bali and explore the sacred monkey forest. Don’t be scared of the monkeys as long you follow the rules of the sanctuary.

Ubud in various ways Bali’s cultural heart.

Ubud has attracted visitors from all over the world for its rich arts. The small village located an hour drive from Denpasar International airport has evolved into a global melting pot. Therefore, Ubud has successfully maintained much of its old charms at the same time. Ubud’s enjoyable walking main street has plenty of shops from art studios, coffee shop and much more within easy reach. You can always strike a good bargain for souvenirs. If you’re looking for beaches and fresh seafood, head to Seminyak, Canggu or Uluwatu!

How to explore Ubud?

Try a bicycle tour through in the villages where you can enjoy Bali’s beautiful scenery and meet the locals. If you locate yourself centrally, most of the main attractions are within walking distance.

Plenty of tours are available offering, sightseeing tours, day trips. Most importantly easily accessible and affordable.

Riding a bike bali

Riding a scooter in Bali is by far the quickest way of avoiding traffic. Exploring the island’s on the back of a scooter is an awesome experience and a fast way to zip through the streets and countryside. However, I’m not going to lie, there is a lot that can go wrong while riding a scooter in Bali. Accidents, flat tyres or getting lost are all real possibilities. If you decide to take a bike always be very careful while driving.

Pangkon Bali restaurant

Our journey started with a culinary experience at Pangkon Bali restaurant. As we walked into the restaurant, the setting gave us such peace. We sat in outdoors traditional huts surrounded by stunning rice fields and beautiful nature with soft music in the background.

Personal Pankgon

The food menu is quite large with a good selection of Balinese food with quite reasonable prices. My wife and I selected the personal Pangkon which basically gives you a selection of Balinese dishes such as chicken satay, fishbowl soup, shredded chicken, soya bean cakes and crackers. The service was fast, the waitress is really friendly and informative but she was not that fluent in English. While the food was properly presented on banana leaves. However, most of the dishes were cold and lacked seasoning. Honestly, I didn’t enjoy the food but I will definitely recommend visiting for it’s relaxing atmosphere and tranquillity. If you are looking for an authentic Balinese culinary experience. I would not suggest this restaurant.

Things to do in Ubud Bali: Take a walk in Ubud Monkey Forest

Lies within the village of Padangtegal, the natural habitat of Balinese long-tailed Monkey. Monkey forest cost is quite low compared to other temples and attractions, especially on its popularity among tourists. You can actually take a nice peaceful walk in the forest. Surrounded by giant roots bending around bridges, lots of statues and exceptional nature.

There are about 750 monkeys in the forest. They are called Balinese long-tailed macaque. However, under no circumstances should you attempt to touch the monkeys. They have been around humans their whole lives and are comfortable interacting with people on a daily basis. They may look cute and cuddly besides they can be aggressive in the blink of an eye.

In conclusion, things to do in Ubud Bali is visiting the monkey forest which is an interesting adventure and should undoubtedly be on your itinerary. Don’t be scared of the monkeys as long you follow the rules of the sanctuary.
