Marc Abed biography.For over half a century, the Abed family has fed, entertained visitors to Lebanon from all over the world. I am proud to come from a long line of cooking and service industry entrepreneurs. From my Grandfather, Pepe Abed ‘Le Pirate de Byblos’ who introduced the word to Port of Jbeil. To Gilbert Abed, founder of the famous ‘Papagayo club’ my father, a chef,  and restaurant owner who embedded cooking in me Marc Abed, even a way of life.

MARC’S CULINARY JOURNEY

Marc’s journey in the kitchen really began at the age of 10 In his father’s restaurant. Wrestling bread, assisting with dishes and doing everything he could do to be involved.  It taught him to become a people’s person and comfortable with the intricacies of a kitchen. At the restaurant, family friends, clients, ambassadors and famous faces from all over the world used to dine there. Some of them joining his father Gilbert and Marc in the kitchen to cook traditional food together. Magical and unforgettable moments!

MARC’S FIRST RESTAURANT

With this magical experience under his belt, all Marc wanted to do was open a restaurant. He lived this dream in 2004 and opened his first restaurant in Lebanon and worked as the head chef.  After 7 great years at the restaurant, where Marc cultivated his own style, creations, and food personality. War and Instability in Lebanon begun to take its toll. Marc moved on in search of more food experience and adventures.

SAO PAULO

Marc’s next stop was Sao Paulo in the Rainbow nation of Brazil. He pushed his culinary boundaries to the next level. “I visited fish markets, del cado municipal, visited high-end, low-end and middle of the road restaurants. In order to learn Brazilian food, language and engross my-self in its culture. It was all so new and different, I realized the boundaries of cooking were limitless”. The Brazilian experience showed Marc a glimpse of the depth and variety of international cooking. Marc’s dedication and natural cooking talent led him to further trips around the world.

MARC WORKED UNDER INTERNATIONAL MICHELIN CHEFS

Chef Marc has worked with various prestigious chefs during his career. One of which was at Noma, voted the world’s best restaurant four times. Even though he’d worked under international Michelin-star chefs and attended courses at the Alain Ducasse culinary school in Paris.

CERTIFIED SUSHI CHEF TOKYO JAPAN

Following his passion, Marc decided to go to visit one of the world’s most preeminent culinary destination in Tokyo Japan. Learning, exploring the art of sushi, Japanese cuisine. He acquired a range of skills and knowledge about Edomae style sushi. He received a diploma to become a certified Edomae sushi chef.

CERTIFED PIZAOLLO NAPLES ITALY

Chef Marc went on a quest to Naples in Italy. Learning the ancient traditions of pizza making straight from its country of origin. Abed attended an intense Pizzaiolo course. With the very first pizzeria in history to be recommended by the influential Michelin Guide. At the end of which he received a diploma to become a certified pizza maker.

CERTIFIED IN THAI CULINARY ARTS

Again Marc decided to visit Bangkok the melting pot of street food and exotic dishes where he acquired a new diploma in Thai cuisine. Visiting the street food stalls, restaurant, Thai produce market and understanding the locals palette so Marc can recreate his own signature dishes. Of course not forgetting shooting various new youtube vlogs while sharing his experience at many reknown restaurants, various Market and new recipes. 

DUBAI EXPERIENCE

After saturating himself in the world’s kitchen, Marc came to United Arabs of Emirates. Dubai gave me the opportunity to bring some of my knowledge homes. Having my cooking show,  touring several prestigious restaurants across the UAE. Meeting their chefs and getting to know their story’s, rating each other’s dishes and learning from each other’s techniques”.

MARC’S CURRENT’S PROJECT

With over 1 million views on his YouTube channel. Marc is now pulling out all the stops to spread the word on his latest project. In the form of short video episodes Believing that in the kitchen, learning never stops. Marc currently works as a culinary director. For one of the most prestigious exotic islands in the world and on multiple projects.

Every artistry and craft tells a story, i am not just a chef but a storyteller.
