Naples street Food should not be missed. Dear food lovers, join me to discover the signature Neapolitan-style Pizza Fritta and the queen of all Naples dessert the Sfogliatella.

Naples has one of the most vibrant street and food cultures in all of the world. It wasn’t that long ago that I decided to visit and attend a pizzaiolo course. I have heard a lot of stories about how dangerous it is there. But I still decide to go there in search of interesting food. I realized that Naples wasn’t dangerous after all. Most importantly, Naples is a culinary destination that should not be missed! After all, it is the birthplace of pizza.

Sfogliatella the queen of Naples dessert

As we embark on our journey into the heart of Naples searching for Naples interesting culinary delights. I have stumbled upon the famous Sfogliatella.

In Naples, there are various versions of Sfogliatella. The most popular Sfogliatella is Riccia, clam-shaped with a crispy outside texture filled with sweet ricotta mixture. The second one is Sfogliatella is Frolla, smoother version of the Riccia made from soft short-crust pastry. In my opinion, the Sfogliatella Riccia worth every calorie. I suggest eating them warm and possibly with a cup of espresso. You will find them everywhere you go!

The Pizza Fritta

There not a single person in this world who didn’t at least once eaten a pizza. The favourite concept of various Neapolitan pizza is still unfamiliar to most of us.

Fried pizza is a product that comes from Naples. The dough is the same as the classic Neapolitan pizza cooked in a wood instead the pizza Fritta is cooked in oil. The fried dough base is crispy on the outside and light and pillowy on the inside.

I have tried the pizza Fritta at Antica Pizza da Zia Esterina Sorbillo located in via Luca Giordano. The kitchen is open and people would see the making.
All freshly made, the one I ordered came with Pomodoro, ricotta di buffalo, and prosciutto. The dough is excellent with a filling full of deliciousness. Naples signature dishes Pizza Fritta and the delectable Sfogliatella should be on your must-try list.
